Salvatore Ferrara, School Director
Salvatore Ferrara has 30 years of knowledge and experience in the electrical industry. He has instructed Local Union # 3 Apprenticeship Program 1998-2001; and is currently licensed to teach CEU renewal courses for Master Electricians in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida; and is a provider of CEU's for NABCEP, building officials, and Home Inspectors in NYS. He currently serves on Code Panel #2 for the NYC Electrical Code. Salvatore Ferrara has testified as an expert witness in the field of electricity for Con Edison and several other law firms. Presently, he is the owner and Director of the Electrical Training Center, Inc located in Copiague, NY, which provides education for individuals just starting their career, or seeking to improve their skills, in the electrical, HVAC/R, and photovoltaic industries. He is a member of the following organizations: IAEI, IBEW, NFPA, LISEIA, USGBC-LI, PSEG Trade Ally, NEL, SCECA, LIAA, NYFAA, ACCA, and sits on the advisory board for Western BOCES Wilson Tech and Nassau Barry Tech electrical program. He is on the advisory board for multiple organizations such as Stony Brook University Corporate Education and Training; Suffolk County Workforce Investment Board; and Habitat For Humanity; as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Copiague. He is also the chairman of education for The International Association of Electrical Inspectors NYC chapter and Chairman of Education for the United States Green Building Council Long Island Chapter
Robert McLaughlin joined the Electrical Training Center, Inc. in 2009. He began his career at the Electrical Training Center as an electrical trade instructor and continued until 2013 when he became Assistant Director. As the Assistant Director, Robert is responsible for assisting the Director in day to day operations, supervising all our instructors, coordinating instructor’s schedules, school job fairs, scheduling of guest speakers, and assisting our students.
Robert is a graduate of William Flyod High School in Mastic Beach, NY and currently holds a Master Electrician License for Suffolk County as well as certificates for OSHA 10, 2008 Code Changes, NFPA safety seminar and Levitron lighting energy conservation. Robert also volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Nassau and Suffolk.
Aside from being our Assistant Director, Robert is the owner of an electrical contracting company in Suffolk County specializing in residential and commercial wiring.
My name is Lisa Ferrara. I am married to Salvatore Ferrara. Sal and I became part of the Electrical Training Center in 2003. I am a mother of two children, Danielle and Salvatore, which is my proudest accomplishment in my life.
Before becoming a wife and mom, I graduated high school and went directly to work. I worked for 2 law firms as an assistant para-legal. I did EBT’s and Dictaphone work. Took a lot of shorthand and researched cases for the attorney’s I worked for. I truly loved working in these law firms.
I got married in 1987 and in 1989 had my first child. I decided to be a stay at home mom at that point. Had my second child in 1991.
In 1996 bought a house in Long Island. Started working again. Babysat for a little girl until she started kindergarten.
Started working in Hauppauge Middle School in the Administrative area.
My husband Sal partnered with Scott Cohen for the Electrical Training Center. I was asked to help with administrative duties. I left my job at Hauppauge Middle School and became part of the Electrical Training Center.
My position deals mainly with the receipt and expenditure of the company’s funds, cash receipts, cash disbursements and reconciliations. I am the liaison with the outside accountant and auditors.
I manage the office with the Director, Assistant Director and the Bursar if not present.
I enjoy my job and have watched the Electrical Training Center grow with the assistance of a wonderful staff.
Barbara Deacon, The Director of Registrar
Barbara Deacon joined the Electrical Training Center in July of 2009. Barbara came from Career Institute of Health and Technologies, she was employed there for 12 years. During her time with this company she ran the Front Desk, Student Services, Placement, Internship Coordinator, Document Manager, and the Director of Registrar.
Barbara is currently the Office Manager and the Director of Registrar. She can assist all students with their attendance records, academic record, transferring of classes, grades, tuitions and fees, and payments.
Barbara has two beautiful children, her son Anthony attended and graduated from the Electrical Training Center, he was enrolled in the Electrical Training Program # 3 with Internship and is currently employed with Cal Tech Electrical. Her daughter, MacKaylah is 9 year old who is currently in elementary school. Barbara children are her world.
Chris Cerqueira, Student Services/Marketing Coordinator
Chris Cerqueira is a graduate of The New York Institute of Technology receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Computer Graphics. After graduation, Chris started working with the CEO and Inventor of 3-D Vision, Inc. to assist in the development of new 3-D Print & Video technologies for the Company at its inception in 2000. He co-developed various processes used in lenticular printing with the CEO. Chris has designed artwork and supervised the production of major advertising campaigns for the Company. He worked extensively on lenticular materials and processing research and development over the past 10 years, assisting with development of the Company's products. In July 2011, Chris made a transition and worked for Slomin’s. At Slomin’s he was responsible for generating interest and selling home security systems, home heating oil and heating equipment in challenging conditions.
In January 2013, Chris was welcomed to The Electrical Training Center as the Student Services/Marketing Coordinator. Chris is responsible for coordinating the execution of email broadcast campaigns, public relations, marketing trade shows and events, outbound calls, media advertisements, field promotions, customer communications, and other marketing plans. Working directly with our Director & Assistant Directors of the school to increase enrollment, Chris has developed various marketing materials such as our school website, standardized sales scripts, trade show presentations, brochures and newsletters – he has personally supervised production and implementation marketing materials. After the completion of our Electrical or HVAC/R program our students are referred to Chris for placement with companies in their field of study as well as placement for their internships.
Maritza Lugo, Internship Coordinator
My professional development began as a Media Buyer for Television and Radio in New York City,
before changing fields to Administration/Management. Employed with New York Health and Hospital Corporation as an Administrator for the Day Treatment Program. I then relocated to New Jersey where I was employed for 6 years at Gouverneur Paterson Towers as a Resident Manager . I moved to Long Island working with the Electrical Training Center in the department of Student Services
Elizabeth Goldner (Liz) began working at Electrical Training Center, Inc in the summer of 2009 as a receptionist and Administrative Assistant. Liz has over 20 years experience in customer service in retail and in an administrative office environment. Liz’s current position is Compliance Officer & Administrative/Admissions Assistant.
Liz will gladly assist you with registering in courses and seminars; can answer questions regarding continuing education (IAEI, NJ, NABCEP, NY State In-service training) offered by the school; and is a liaison between the school and corporations & industry trade-related organizations partnering with the school to provide corporate training for employees and/or members. Liz works with all departments to ensure the school is complying with school standards, along with the standards of all governing bodies including state education and accreditation that may regulate the school operating standards. Additionally, Liz assists the Director, instructors, and school agents in submitting curriculum, licenses, and other documentation required to comply with NYS Dept. of Education BPSS, and ACCET.
On a personal note, Liz resides with her husband, daughter, dog, and cat in Babylon, NY. She enjoys reading fiction, non-fiction, local history literature, and classical poetry; along with participating in outdoor recreation such as hiking, geocaching, kayaking, and camping. Personal quote, “Not all who wander are lost”.
Salvatore M. Ferrara, Financial Aid Director
Salvatore Ferrara is an Administrative Assistant at the Electrical Training Center, Inc. He started with the Electrical Training Center in 2009. He can assist students in a range of functions from Student Records to Accounting. He will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science In Business Management from Stony Brook University in the summer of 2015. He is a Notary Public for the State of New York and is available for students when needed. Sal is an avid hockey fan, his loyalty to the New York Islanders. As a student himself, Sal values education. He loves technology and how it contributes to a more efficient workplace. He is the son of Salvatore Ferrara and Lisa Ferrara. Alexa Granata, Admissions Assistant
Alexa joined the Electrical Training Center in November 2015 as the Admissions Assistant. Alexa schedules all tours and interviews for potential students. She assists Kimberly, Director of Admissions, and meets with potential students and guides them through the admissions process and as well as registering students for the Electrical Training Program and HVAC/R Training Program. Before joining the ETC family, Alexa was a shift supervisor for Starbucks and has many years of customer service experience.
In 2012, Alexa had the privilege to intern for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During her time there, she worked in Merchandise and Guest
Relations in the Magic Kingdom. Alexa takes extreme pride in her work and
tries her best to get to know all of our students. She is also an avid New
York Rangers hockey fan.
Kimberly Rastelli started working for the Electrical Training Center, in 2004. Kimberly was one of the first employees of the Electrical Training Center when the school was located on Wellwood Avenue, in Lindenhurst with one classroom. Kimberly, wore many hats in the first few years, as ETC was starting out and growing. Since Kimberly, has a heart for helping others, as well as a strong administrative background, she excelled working in a school environment, especially when it came to the students.
At the same time Kimberly was working for ETC, she was offered an opportunity to help woman in prison. Kimberly, ran a program for four years at the Nassau County Correctional Facility for Woman, where her life was forever changed. In 2009, Kimberly took a hiatus from the Electrical Training Center and went back to school to finish her degree. As well as, being a hands-on single mother to her amazing son, Sean Patrick. Kimberly did complete her BA in Psychology and Addictions, as well as being a CASAC-T and an addictions counselor for years.
After taking the time, to complete her education and find her purpose in life, Kimberly, was blessed to come back to work for the Electrical Training Center in January of 2014. Kimberly, is currently the Director of Admissions and part of a great team here at the Electrical Training Center. We are not just an educational facility, we are in the business of changing lives!
Lisa Loeffler began working at ETC in August of 2015. Prior to joining the ETC family, Lisa worked at a DOE funded pre-school teaching children with special needs. As a one to one, she provided opportunities to develop essential skills and knowledge to aid the students in their academic endeavors. Lisa later then moved on to become the program assistant/data specialist for a NYS DOH funded public health initiative that fostered in the aid and health of individuals who struggle with addiction. After her stay there, Lisa happily took a position as an Administrative Assistant at ETC. She assists in enrolling students in all offered courses and seminars along with any other daily administrative tasks. Lisa is also currently training to take on a new position as a Financial Administrative Assistant. She looks forward to expanding with ETC and is excited to see what the future has in store for her at the company. Lisa is an avid sports fan and her heart is with her beloved New York Rangers and New England Patriots. In her spare time, Lisa loves to spend time with her family and friends that mean the world to her.
