Electrical Instructor

This position is primarily responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of the academic success by performing the following duties.

 

Direct, lead, and control activities and functions within assigned academic program including hiring instructors, assisting with scheduling of courses and instructors, providing coverage of classes, managing student issues, ordering equipment and supplies, conducting classroom observations of instructors, assisting with instructor performance evaluations, monitoring student attendance and retention, and facilities maintenance. Additional responsibilities include participation in strategic planning, budgeting, regulatory compliance, curriculum development, and other activities as necessary to help the school meet its operational goals.

HVACR EVNING INSTRUCTOR

KNOWLEDGE AND BACKGROUND: This position requires 5-7 years of HVAC industry experience. High School Diploma or higher preferred.

Job Type: Evening Instructor

Required experience:

  • HVAC/R (Commercial and/or Residential): 5-7 years

Required education:

  • High school or equivalent

Teach a program on the fundamentals of heating and refrigeration in the residential and commercial industries. Provide general basic knowledge in HVAC systems, basic tools and service procedures in areas including but not limited to local codes, safety, heating process, system installation of various types of furnaces, troubleshooting of heating systems, service call situations, and customer service. Must have HVAC EPA. Must have patience and the ability to explain step by step procedures. Preparing students for a job with-in the HVAC/R industry.

SUMMARY

This position is primarily responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of the academic success by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Develops, updates and maintains lesson plans, for programs, courses or seminars, this is done on the employee’s own time.

 

Sends lesson plans for program, course or seminar to Assistant Director for review.

 

Ensures all photocopied material is done and ready for course/seminar/ program prior to start of each class.

 

Provides all new material to Assistant Director for review before distributing to students, this is required to keep consistency in all programs, courses and/or seminars.

 

Updates daily lesson Plans every six months as per school’s policy.  

 

Writes lesson plan on the white board each day.

 

Keeps track of inventory for his program, course and or seminar.

 

Provides material request list form (2) two weeks prior when material is needed for a seminar, course and program. This form is provided to by the Assistant Director.

 

Communicates with the Assistant Director if any inventory needs to be replenished.

 

Keeps classroom clean, all classroom shall be clean at the each class (day and/or evening)

  • Cleans white board, white board shall be clean at the end of each class.
  • Makes sure the floor and tables are free of garbage or debris.
  • All equipment for demonstration shall be removed after each class and properly stored in their location.
  • Turns off lights at the end of each class.

 

Keeps shop area clean:

  • Makes sure all floor is free of garbage and/or debris
  • All wire scraps shall be placed in wire scrap box

 

  • All loose materials and fittings shall be put back into storage.
  • All tools shall be stored away after each class.

 

Attends four meeting a year.

 

Provides tutoring services as needed.

 

Reports any accident to Assistant director or administration in a timely manner. 

 

Keeps up to date on industry knowledge

 

Travels to special events, shows or job sites as required by the school

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
